Important information from the HSE regarding mental health supports now available to men nationwide. As many of you will know from your work on the ground, men often face particular challenges when it comes to speaking about emotional wellbeing or reaching out for help. These new supports aim to make that first step a little easier.
In recent months, the HSE has expanded a range of free services and has been promoting them through social media and through local radio. The focus of this campaign is to encourage men to seek support when they need it and to feel more confident in doing so.
Two key services to highlight:
• Free counselling with MyMind
Men can access up to six counselling sessions at no cost. Sessions are available online and, in some areas, in person. A GP referral code is required, after which men can register through the MyMind website .http://www.mymind.org/
• Free confidential phone support with Connect Counselling
This is available 7 days a week between 5pm–9pm on 1800 577 577, offering a safe and confidential space to talk.• The overall message is clear:
there are a wide range of free mental health supports available for men, including counselling and confidential phone support. Reaching out during a difficult time can make a meaningful difference.
• Please see the attached promotional material, which you can print or share on social media.

KENMARE INDOOR BOWLS CLUB
With colder and wetter weather setting in, now would be a good time to come and see what playing bowls entails. It’s a game of skill and accuracy and gentle exercise for the upper and lower body. Members can continue playing bowls long after other forms of games and exercise become too difficult. It’s also a great opportunity to socialise and meet people. A welcome coffee break half way through our morning session helps with this.
The club meets twice a week – Mondays and Thursdays from 10.30 to 1.00 pm at the GAA Hall. All you need is a pair of soft soled house shoes. Bowls and tuition are both available and no previous experience is necessary - just a willingness to give it your best shot. Men and women welcome.
We look forward to welcoming you. For further information contact Vera at 085 1308358.
